Designed for Ice Technicians who actively work in curling clubs and wish to become Certified Curling Canada Ice Technician. This course replaces the previous “Level 2” Course offered by provincial member associations, and is meant to augment the training that Ice Technicians receive from their supervisors and/or mentors. The course content will be delivered in a mixture of classroom and on-ice training by a Curling Canada facilitator. Topics covered include: Refrigeration Basics, Refrigeration Plant Safety, Floor Care, Pebbling & Scraping, Water Quality, and Stone Maintenance.
The prerequisite for this course requires that the candidates have a minimum of 1 year acceptable experience working in a curling club, or completion of the Assistant Ice Technician course, or a recommendation from a member of the provincial Ice Tech Team. Certificates are issued after the candidates have successfully completed an online exam through the Curling Canada eLearning portal. Candidates will have 45 days upon access to the portal to complete the exam. Completion of the Canadian Coaching Association's "Safe Sport" course is also a requirement for certification. Candidates are expected to attend the full duration of the course before access to the eLearning portal is granted.
Payment: Candidates must follow the registration link below and register with Curling IO to make arrangements for payment. Online payment through Curling IO is encouraged, but e-Transfer to CurlBC or cheque mailed to the Curl BC office is also acceptable. Payment will not be collected in person. (See instructions once directed to the payment section of this registration form). Payment in full must be received by September 20, 2025, or registration is not considered to be completed.
Cancellation Policy: A cancellation fee of $50 will be incurred for withdrawals after September 5, 2025. The course requires a minimum of 6 participants to run. If the minimum threshold for participation is not met by September 5, 2025, then those that have signed up will be contacted regarding refund and alternative course arrangements.
